Omaha police say a briefcase that prompted deployment of the bomb squad Wednesday afternoon turned out to be harmless.
Omaha Police were called to 92nd and Dodge Wednesday afternoon to investigate suspicious activity. When officers got there a briefcase was found in a hallway and the building's security cameras had been spray painted.
Believing the briefcase could be a bomb, the building was evacuated and the Bomb Squad was called in. The bomb unit discovered that the briefcase was not a bomb and that it had been removed from a business in the building that had been burglarized.
A doctor’s office door had been pried open and an old computer and monitor had been taken.
