Governor Dave Heineman says Tax Commissioner Doug Ewald is leaving state government to take another position.
The 50 year old Ewald has been responsible for the daily operations of the Department of Revenue for the past seven years.
“I want to thank Doug for his seven years of service to the State with the Department of Revenue,” says Gov. Heineman. “Doug has been instrumental in helping move the Department forward though the enhanced use of technology.”
Heineman says Ewald has worked with department leaders to emphasize the ease and added security of electronic payments and opportunities to e-file tax statements. Nebraska leads the nation in electronic filing of tax returns.
Ewald’s last day as Commissioner will be October 18.
