A North High Magnet student was found in possession of a disassembled gun on school property Tuesday morning
In an e-mail sent to parents on Tuesday, Principal Gene Haynes indicated the student made no threats and, as soon as building administrators were made aware of the situation, the disassembled gun was confiscated and the student was taken into police custody.
Haynes stressed that North students remained safe throughout this situation and that the safety of students, faculty, and staff is always a top priority.
District spokesperson Todd Andrews says the student could be expelled under the Student Code of Conduct.
"When it comes to firearms it's a no tolerance policy. We take this seriously."
