A Council Bluffs woman shot during a domestic dispute with her husband this morning has died
A Council Bluffs woman shot during a domestic dispute with her husband Tuesday morning has died.
Millisa Cox was found in the front yard of her home near 34th and Avenue B just after 8:00 a.m.
Police say Darwin Cox shot his wife and then himself. He then locked himself inside the house before SWAT team members took him into custody about 90 minutes later.
Alex Dolezal is a friend of the couple's son and tells Newsradio 1110 KFAB he witnessed a violent argument last night. Dolezal said the couple had been fighting and that she had thrown a pair of scissors that stuck in Darwin Cox's back.
Police say Cox shot himself in the chin and suffered a superficial wound and was not shot by SWAT team members.
He is expected to recover and will face charges. The Omaha emergency response unit was called in to assist.
