Omaha Public Power District officials say they need to get better at identifying and fixing any concerns that arise at Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant.

OPPD chief nuclear officer Dave Bannister says officials at the utility realize they much improve how they respond to any issues at the plant.

The NRC has tough oversight on Fort Calhoun because several problems were found at the plant that were unrelated to last summer's flooding along the Missouri River.

Fort Calhoun has been shut down since last spring.

OPPD has hired outside experts to help oversee repairs and get

Fort Calhoun ready to restart later this year.
