We had a great time last night at Railcar!  Thanks so much to Jared and his staff for the delectable meal, to Wally the Beertender for the exquisite brews, and to Roget's for this thesaurus.

ANOTHER SELL-OUT IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES!  THANK YOU, KFAB NATION, FOR MAKING THESE EVENTS SO SUCCESSFUL!

The next sold-out 1110 KFAB Gourmet Club is Monday, January 14th, 6:30 p.m., at the brand-new Railcar at 144th and Blondo.  The revamped interior of the former Italian restaurant there has made this new establishment an homage to Omaha's railroad ties (that's a little double-entendre, there -- get it?  Railroad humor!).

To make this night even more special, Wally the Beertender will compliment each course with a specifically selected brew meant to enhance each part of the meal.  Wally doesn't just say, "Here's some beer."  He's a true showman, and I'm honored to have him a part of this event.

We'll start with the Wild Mushroom Panzanella -- a warm Italian bread salad served with a sweet onion vinaigrette.  For the beer with this course, Wally thinks we "may be going down the ol' wheat or IPA (India Pale Ale) alley."

Next, Jared will serve us the Pork Belly Fagioli -- cannellini bean, braised pork belly, pistou, grana padano and french bread.  To compliment the fagioli, Wally will give us a preview of a beer that won't even be unleashed on the public until a week later.  And that's all he'll say about it!

For our main course, you'll pleasure in the Duck Confit Stroganoff.  Jared described this as "duck cooked in its own fat," much to Lucy's enjoyment.  To wash that down, Wally will serve you one of his favorites:  A smooth, Scottish ale.

And, for dessert, Railcar's carrot cake with a wheat, raspberry brew.

This event is $40/person, which includes the beers mentioned above.  If you want to get yourself a taxi or D.D., we'll certainly make more available to you!  But the Gourmet Club isn't about getting you hammered, it's about sharing food, fun, and fellowship with fellow members of KFAB Nation -- and that's what we're doing to do at Railcar on January 14th!
