Chris Baker Takes Over Afternoons on NewsRadio 1110 KFAB

Successful Talk Host / Comic Begins February 11th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (1/28/13) – Nationally acclaimed talk radio host Chris Baker returns to Omaha, Nebraska to assume the 4-7 p.m.afternoon slot on NewsRadio 1110 KFAB.  His first show will be Monday, Feb. 11th.  He will be moving back to town and hosting a show for Omaha, from Omaha.

A touring comic, Chris started his radio career with WIOD-AM in Miamibefore his stand-up travels brought him to the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Omaha.

“When I was a comic on the road, the Omaha Funny Bone was my favorite club to play because Omaha always had great audiences and great people,” Chris says.  “When I was offered a radio gig here in 1996, I jumped at the opportunity.”

Chris took over afternoons on the now-defunct KKAR-AM and within a year brought the station record-high ratings. He also worked on the Husker broadcast in 1997 which he says was the thrill of a lifetime watching that championship season from the sidelines.

After spending some time as morning host on the former 101.9 The Edge rock station, Chris followed his true love of talk radio to stations in Kansas City, Minneapolis, and Houston.  He has been a regular guest pundit on Fox News, CNN and MSNBC, as well as earning a coveted fill-in role on Glenn Beck’s nationally syndicated radio program (heard 2-4 p.m. on 1110 KFAB).

Chris found more than radio success in Omaha; he met a girl who is now his wife of 13 years.  They have three young sons.

“Since my family and I are in Omahato visit friends and relatives on a regular basis it’s only natural that I would want to put down roots here,” Chris says.  “KFAB is a legendary Midwest radio powerhouse and I’m excited to work with (program director/morning show host) Gary Sadlemyer and the whole crew.”

Sadlemyer says the feeling is mutual.  “Chris Baker is an exceptional talent, and I can't wait to add his unique blend of hard-hitting commentary and humor to our already strong lineup on 1110 KFAB,” he says.

“Omaha is a very special radio market, with a ton of strong entertainers on the air,” Chris says.  “It forces a guy to be creative, and that’s what makes it fun.”
