Secretary of State John Gale has the following tips to make voting easier.
Find your polling place. People can find their polling places by CLICKING HERE or contacting their county election office.
Be prepared. Wait times at polling places can become longer if voters have not reviewed the ballot in advance. Before going to the polls, get prepared by reviewing a sample ballot.
Avoid the crowds. Polling places are busier at certain times - early morning, lunchtime and later afternoon. To cut down on your waiting time, consider voting during non-peak hours.
Change of address. If a registered voter has moved within the county (out of their former precinct) and not reregistered, such person should go to the polling place associated with his or her current residence. The person will be required to vote a provisional ballot.
Conduct at the polls. To maintain proper decorum at the polls, it is requested that people turn off their cell phones and refrain from using cameras.
Campaigning prohibited. Buttons, stickers, hats, T-shirts and other campaign paraphernalia are not allowed in a polling place. It is illegal to campaign within 200 feet of a polling site.
Voter identification. Proper identification will be required at the polling place of people who are newly registered by mail and did not provide identification. Such people will be required to provide identification showing their current residence. Identification at the polling place is not required of other voters.
Polls in Nebraska are open on Election Day until 8 p.m. Polls in Iowa will remain open until 9:00 p.m.
