Ernie Chambers recieved overwhelming support for a seat on the Learning Community Coordinating Council. A total of 53 candidates were vying for 12 seats on the board. In 2006, Chambers proposed splitting up the state's largest school district, largely along racially identifiable lines. The council grew out of that idea. Term limits are forcing Chambers out of the state legislature this year.
