Man Killed In West Omaha crash

Omaha Police say a man was killed in a two vehicle crash just after 6:00 Thursday night near 153rd and Blondo.

Investigators say a gray 2010 Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on 153rd Avenue and had come to a stop or was slowing for the red traffic signal at Blondo Street.  Believing that it was safe to do so, Police say the driver of the Impala proceeded to turn right onto Blondo Street and was struck by a westbound white 2001 Chevrolet Blazer.

The force of the collision caused the Blazer to leave the right side of the roadway, collide with a rod iron fence, vault down at embankment and overturn.  The driver of the Blazer, 65 year old John Turner of Omaha, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Impala, 21 year old Jenna Gouger, was not injured.  Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
