Council Bluffs Man Arrested For Carjacking Cab Driver

A Council Bluffs man is behind bars after authorities say he allegedly stole a cab driver's vehicle.

Council Bluffs Police say just before 6:30 Thursday morning a cab driver, Gaylinn Finken, reported that he had been carjacked by his passenger.

Finken told police he picked up a passenger and took him to his requested location near 8th and Broadway.

When they arrived at the destination Finken said the passenger, 31 year old Lloyd Torske, refused to pay his fare and became very agitated.

Eventually Finken opened the the passenger door, hoping that Torske would just get out of the cab. That's when Finken says Torske shoved him away from the car and got into the driver's seat.

Torske fled the scene in the cab, then abandoned the car just a few blocks away near 9th Street and 2nd Avenue.

Police were able to locate Torske and is currently in custody at the Pottawattamie County Jail.

He is facing charges of Second Degree Robbery, Second Degree Theft and Fifth Degree Theft.
