Driver Cited In High Speed Crash

The Nebraska State Patrol says a Corvette clocked at 132 miles an hour on the interstate this afternoon slammed into two vehicles near 132nd and Blondo.

Sergeant Dan Klimek says the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle during the incident. "He struck a van and then lost control and ran into the back of that landscaping vehicle. The driver has been arrested."

Authorities say a Trooper was merging from I-680 onto West Dodge when the Corvette, driven by 21 year old Shaheer Atiqullah passed him clocked at 132 miles-per-hour.

Stephen Begbie was driving the heating and air conditioning van that was struck by the Corvette. "It looked absolutely clear, and I was turning, and then next thing I know I am facing southbound on 132nd and I saw a State Trooper pulling up right in front of me."

There were no serious injuries in the crash.

Atiqullah was driving on a suspended license and is facing several charges including Felony Flight to Avoid Arrest, Willful Reckless Driving and Speeding.

Two passengers in the Corvette suffered minor injuries and will not face any charges.
