Post Office Staying Busy With Holiday Deliveries

Next to Santa's workshop, the Omaha Post Office is the busiest place in town.

Nebraska postal carriers will be delivering more than 4.5 million packages this holiday season and spokesperson Roger Humphries says they are again working Sundays to keep the mail moving. "If you're expecting packages, you may have them arrive on Sunday afternoon. So be sure to watch for them that way you can get them into your home as soon as possible."

Humphries says this year's numbers will be slightly up from last year. "We're expecting about a ten percent increase in package volume this holiday season. 850 million packages nationwide."

For those who may be procrastinators, the deadline to send out priority mail is December 20th and priority mail express is December 22nd if you want your items delivered by Christmas.

The main Post Office at 11th and Pacific, Postal Impressions south of 136th and Q and the Elkhorn Post Office are the three branches open Sundays.
