Sarpy County Receives Grant To Combat Pot Crimes

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office received a grant from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency in the amount of $20,000 for Fiscal Year 2018.

The grant will be used to combat illegal activities surrounding the growth, manufacturing and distribution of marijuana and other related illegal substances such as T.H.C., wax and hash oil.

Narcotics investigators will primarily use the funds for overtime accrued during investigations involving marijuana eradication, surveillance, search warrant service and general suppression of marijuana in Sarpy County and the Omaha metro area.

A percentage of the funds will also be used for the training of investigators. This training helps investigators stay current with the most recent trends in drug manufacturing and distribution, not to mention the identification of the most recent forms of marijuana available.
