A woman involved in a rollover accident near Valparaiso, Nebraska died Monday night after being ejected from her vehicle.
Saunders County Sheriff officials say 66 year old Nancy Karel was northbound on Highway 79, about two miles north of Valparaiso, when her Chevy Trailblazer left the roadway. Authorities say the SUV went through a grassy ditch then returned to the road and went out of control, sending it into another ditch. Karel was ejected from the vehicle when the SUV rolled down an embankment on the west side of Highway 79.
Valparaiso and Lincoln Fire and Rescue both responded to the crash around 4:30 Monday afternoon after another driver came upon the scene and called 911. Karel was taken by medical helicopter to Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, where she died.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
