Council Bluffs Police Ask For Help Identifying Suspect

Law enforcement in Council Bluffs are asking the public for any information they may have about the identity of a man they believe is connected to a shooting and carjacking in December.

Around 4:30 AM on December 30th, a 53 year old Elkhorn man was found with a gunshot wound in the Horseshoe Casino parking lot. Investigators say the man had been shot in the thigh as he tried to run from another man who was trying to carjack him. The suspect was successful in stealing the vehicle, and fled from the scene with the victim’s Ford F-150 Super-Crew.

The victim was transported to Nebraska Medicine with non-life threatening injuries and his truck was found burned out near 45th and Center.

Investigators obtained surveillance photos and are now trying to identify the man from the photos, as they believe he is the suspect in the case. He may go by the nickname KJ and is about 5'10, 200 pounds and is in his late 40s or early 50s.

The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the suspect, or his whereabouts, should contact the Council Bluffs Police Investigation Division at 712-328-4728 or Crime Stoppers at 712-328-STOP.
