Three Injured In Morning Crash

Three people were sent to the hospital Thursday morning after a one vehicle crash at Fontenelle Boulevard and Himebaugh.

Omaha Police say 22 year old Tre Thomas was northbound on Fontenelle Boulevard when it left the road and hit a tree just before 8:30. Thomas told officers he works overnights and had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

Thomas suffered a compound fracture to his right leg. His front seat passenger, 46 year old Tammy Thomas, broke her leg and wrist in the crash. Authorities say neither were wearing seat belts. Twenty month old Tamia Thomas suffered a skull fracture, she was buckled into an approved child car seat. All three were taken to Nebraska Medicine. None of their injuries are considered life-threatening.

Police say alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
