Cops Track Down Vandal After He Leaves Behind Key Evidence

A vandal was easily caught by Omaha Police after leaving a key piece of evidence behind at the scene.

Crews had just finished putting in a new sprinkler system, fence and fresh sod at Florence Elementary School when they discovered their work was destroyed. Police said on Tuesday crews arrived to find the field torn up with large ruts in the ground.

The estimated damage from the vandalism totaled around $5,000.

Police investigating the damage found the suspect’s vehicle had lost its license plate when it drove through the fence. Officers ran the plate and traced it to an address on Stone Avenue. The investigating officer questioned Shane Blacketer at the home and he confessed to the vandalism.

Blacketer was booked for Destruction of Property.
