Crews Making Progress In Restoring Power

It has been more than 24 hours since the power went out for thousands of OPPD customers following an early season snow fall.   At one point on Sunday 52,000 customers were without power due to heavy snow falling on power lines and tree limbs still covered with leaves.

Repair crews from OPPD made big strides on Monday to reduce the outages.  As of 3:00 Monday afternoon nearly 2,100 customers were still in the dark.

OPPD officials say the remaining outages should be fixed by late Monday evening, barring any complications.  "We have 56 crews with OPPD, which is 147 bodies out in the field making repairs," says spokesperson Jodi Baker.

She says crews from NPPD and other surrounding utilities were also called in to assist.
