Two Arrested Following Tuesday Night Pursuit

A man and woman are behind bars following a Tuesday night police pursuit.

It all began at the Target near 120th and L when officers were tipped off that a man and woman, both in their 20's, that were suspected of shoplifting were going to commit another crime.

According to Omaha Police Lt. Amy Oetter, authorities believed that the pair had been committing other shoplifting crimes to fuel bigger crimes. Police believe the man would wait in the car while the woman would enter the stores and steal things.

Around 5:15, officers located the suspect vehicle at the Target and initiated a pursuit at 5:15 on the belief that the pair was the couple involved in the other crimes. Authorities say they also thought that the man might have a violent weapons charge.

ABLE 1 located the car at 120th and Blondo while police on the ground used stop sticks to end the pursuit, which had reached speeds of 65 miles per hour.

The suspect vehicle crashed at 120th and Maple just before 6:00 and the man fled on foot across the road, while the woman fled into a ditch. Both suspects were eventually apprehended. There were no injuries during the incident and no weapons were found on the suspects.

The suspects' identities have not been released at this time.
