The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade set for Saturday has been postponed due to weather concerns. It will be rescheduled for March 16 from 10 a.m. to noon in Downtown Omaha.
“Due to the anticipated poor weather conditions on Saturday, in addition to the limited mobility due to piles of snow along various streets and sidewalks, we have decided to postpone the parade for a week,” says Hugh Spellman, parade chairman for the Ancient Order of Hibernians Fr. Flanagan Division. “We don’t want to have our parade participants and spectators exposed to conditions that could lead to accidents or injuries.”
Spellman said the post-parade party on March 9 will go on as scheduled beginning at 11 a.m. at Annie’s Irish Pub at 11th and Davenport in the Capitol District.
With more than 70 entrants including color guards, bands, drill teams, dance troupes and creative floats, Spellman said this year’s parade promises to be a great event for the entire family.
