Two Iowa High School Students Killed In Pottawattamie County Crash

Two Lewis Central HIgh School students were killed in a three vehicle crash in Pottawattamie County Friday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. near Pioneer Trail and Humbolt Lane. When deputies arrived they found a car and a pickup in a ditch just south of the intersection. The car was overturned.

Investigators say the pickup, driven by 46 year old Rollin Hansen of Council Bluffs, was eastbound on Pioneer Trail and the car was westbound. The two vehicles collided near the intersection. One of the teenagers in the car has been identified as 17 year old Floyd Quick from Council Bluffs.

Quick and the other teen, who has not yet been identified, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's department says the investigation indicates that speed was a factor and that another vehicle was involved and failed to stop.

Lewis Central officials say grief counselors & staff will be at the school on Saturday and all day on Monday to support students.
