Man Accused Of "Stalking" A Young Lincoln Woman

LINCOLN, Nebraska - A fright for a 20 year old Lincoln woman on Wednesday. She called police to say that her "stalker" had walked into her home on S 31st Street around 9 a.m. She was able to push the man out of her home, called the police and gave a description.

The woman told police she had met 36 year old Derrick Kunkel of Illinois casually about a week ago but didn't know his name or where he lived. About four days ago, he came to her home and was knocking on the door but soon left.

Police searched the area and saw a man matching his description near 32nd and A Street. Police say that Kunkel shook his head and ran across traffic lanes. After a foot chase, Kunkel was taken into custody after resisting arrest and a short struggle.

Police say he refused to identify himself but officers found a letter addressed to him in his bag. Kunkel was initially booked as John Doe.

Kunkel is charged with trespassing, resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer.
