There have now been eighth COVID-19 deaths reported at the Life Care Center in Elkhorn. Facility officials say the eighth resident died Sunday.
Eight residents who had previously tested negative have also tested positive. There are currently 68 residents and 30 staff members who have tested positive for the virus since April 27. Seven residents are still in the hospital.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services inspected the facility a week ago and indicated that staffing levels are appropriate for continued care.
