One Dead After Car Lands In Sarpy County Creek

A 27 year old Omaha man is dead after a car went off the road and ended up in a creek in Sarpy County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Sarpy County Sheriff's Department the crash happened on 180th Street, about a half mile south of Pflug Road around 2 a.m.

Investigators say a Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Ian Wichita of Omaha, went off the roadway and down an embankment before coming to rest on its side in a creek. Wichita was declared dead at the scene.

The passenger, 24 year old Evelynne Harrison of Omaha, was able to climb out of the car. Investigators say Harrison was treated at Bergan Mercy Hospital for minor injuries.

The sheriff's department continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
