Elkhorn Schools Make Covid-19 Preventive Adjustment

The Elkhorn Public School Board adjusts its academic calendar in an effort to keep the community safe.

The schedule changes coming out of holiday breaks are to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 and influenza.

The School Board moves the district to 100 percent remote learning for one week after each scheduled break, which includes the Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks.

During those remote learning weeks, high school extra-curricular activities will go on as planned.

In a letter to parents, the district said the change was necessary to keep families and staff safe especially if a family chooses to travel.

The district says so far, they’ve had 40 positive cases out of more than 11,000 staff and students.

As for snow days, at this point, school officials say students will not have to go to remote learning on those days.
