Douglas County Voter Turnout Prediction Is Made

Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse predicts a voter turnout of 70 percent for the county next Tuesday.

“With voter registration and early voting at all-time record high levels in Douglas County, it is clear voters are planning to have their voices heard in the November election,” Kruse said.

Due to COVID-19, Kruse figures 70 percent will vote early, and 30 percent will vote at polling places on Election Day.

The voter turnouts for previous statewide Presidential General Elections were 72.6 percent in 2008, 68.9 percent in 2012, and 69.7 percent in 2016.

The commission reports as of this week, there are 373-thousand Douglas County residents registered to vote, including 144-thousand Democrats, 132-thousand Republicans, almost 6-thousand Libertarians, and 91-thousand Nonpartisans.

A turnout of 70 percent would result in 261,499 votes cast in Douglas County.
