Squirrel causes power outage at Douglas County Election Commission Office

Power has been restored at the Douglas County Election Commission after an outage Friday afternoon.

The Omaha Public Power Outage says a squirrel was responsible for the outage. The Douglas County Election Commission says the power outage caused their phone and computer systems to be temporarily down.

The commission says, “We are communicating with voters who are currently in line to receive ballots." The office thanked voters for their patience during the outage.

The office will have extended hours for early voters on Saturday, October 31st from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
