Blizzard Hits Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa

The National Weather Service Blizzard Warning is in effect for eastern Nebraska and western Iowa until 6 p.m. Friday.

It includes the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro area and Lincoln.

There are blizzard conditions with total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches and winds gusting as high as 60 mph in east central and northeast Nebraska and southwest and west central Iowa.

Difficult travel due to near zero visibility and roads becoming snow covered;

Forecasters say the Friday morning and evening commutes will be heavily impacted, so the weather service says travel should be restricted.

If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
