Omaha trash collections will be impacted through the week due to snow

(Omaha, NE) -- Garbage and recycling collections in Omaha will see delays throughout the week due to Monday's snow storm.

The City of Omaha is asking residents to be patient and to allow FCC additional time to provide collection. FCC will collect Tuesday’s routes on Wednesday. Monday routes will be completed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to finish the Monday collection areas. The city says this will allow FCC to minimize further delays the rest of the week.

The city says residents can help with FCC getting caught up on collections in the following ways:

  • Place your material out and leave it out. Allow two or more days for your street to be collected before calling in to the Solid Waste Helpline (402-444-5328) to report a missed collection (except as noted above for Monday’s collection area).
  • Keep carts as accessible as possible. Residents should set out in your cleared driveway, or a cleared area at your curb. Do not set carts on top of or behind drifts. Dig out and around your carts if they get buried in a snow bank. Carts that are inaccessible or difficult to access may not be picked up this week.
  • Residents whose carts are normally collected in an alley and who are able may place the cart at the curb for collection. Some alleys may not be accessible for collection this week.

FCC says crews will be working on Saturday, and most likely Sunday, in order to complete as many collections as possible this week.
