COVID vaccine clinic to be held in Council Bluffs this weekend

(Council Bluffs, IA) -- A COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held this weekend in Council Bluffs.

Pottawattamie County Public Health says the clinic has 2,500 available appointments for residents in Phase 1A and 1B, people ages 65 and older, and those age 18-65 with certain medical conditions. Qualifying underlying include things like asthma, cancer, COPD, heart failure, obesity and diabetes. You can see a full list of conditions here.

PCPH says the clinic will take place on Saturday, March 13th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. Pottawattamie County residents must sign up for a vaccine appointment through PCPH’s website.

Those 65 and older without internet capabilities can call Connections Area Agency on Aging at 712-328-2540 to sign up for an appointment over the phone. Individuals 64 to 18 without internet capabilities can call 211 to sign up for an appointment over the phone. No walk-ins will be accepted due to limited vaccine availability.

To sign up, residents will need to provide their name, address, date of birth, and email if applicable. Individuals must present proof of residency at the clinic. Consent forms should be printed and completed before arrival at the clinic.

PCPH says although this clinic will help get residents vaccinated, the demand for the COVID-19 vaccine still exceeds their supply. “We expect this clinic to fill quickly as we expand into the populace of residents ages 16-65 with health conditions,” said Matt Wyant with PCPH. “But, we will continue to offer these vaccine clinics as we receive additional doses.”
