Mav Hockey Heads To The "Big Dance"

The Omaha Mavericks hockey team is headed to the 2021 Mens' N-C-A-A Tournament.

The fourth-seed Mavs will play regional top-seed Minnesota in the West Regional in Loveland, Colorado this Saturday at 8 p.m.

In his fourth season behind the bench, Mike Gabinet leads his alma mater into the tournament after a fourth place finish in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, which has four teams in the tournament.

The last time UNO played in the NCAA Tournament was in 2015, when that Dean Blaise-coached team advanced to the "Frozen Four" for the first time in school history, losing to eventual National Champ Providence College in the national semi's in Boston.

This year's "Frozen Four" is in "PPG Paints" Arena, the home of the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins.
