Redevelopment proposal for former Civic Auditorium site announced

(Omaha, NE) -- A proposal to develop the site of the former Civic Auditorium is approved by Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert.

The mayor's office says development group Civic Corner has proposed a mixed-use development that includes multi-family housing, retail, office, parking and public space. The first phase of construction will include 388 apartments. The mayor's office says 268 of the units will go for market rates, while 120 will be mixed-income.

Civic Corner is led by White Lotus Group, who Stothert's office says will collaborate with other local and regional partners on the development.

"Housing options in our urban core are critical to attract new business and talent," said Mayor Jean Stothert. "The Civic property is surrounded by new commercial development and there will be even more growth downtown in the coming year. Housing, retail, recreation, and social spaces, connected with multi-modal transit, will complete the vision we have for downtown Omaha."
