Two men arrested after 11 lbs of meth, $37,000 in cash found in motel room

(Douglas County, NE) -- Two men are arrested after 11 pounds of meth and more than $37,000 in cash are found in an Omaha motel room.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says around 7:30 Wednesday night, the DCSO Crime Suppression Unit was conducting targeted enforcement in the area of 108th and L. The sheriff's office says during the operation, a vehicle with no plates was pulled over. Investigators say during the stop, deputies determined that the driver and front seat passenger, 57 year old Michael Scott and 34 year old Guadalupe Ayala-Armienta, had valid warrants and were arrested.

The sheriff's office says upon further investigation and interviews, deputies began to suspect criminal activity at the Travel Inn Motel. DCSO says a search warrant was obtained for room #226 and that during the search eleven pounds of methamphetamines and $37,133 in cash were found.

DCSO say further investigation led to a second search warrant being executed at room #253, which was also related to the original traffic stop. The sheriff's office says the search of room #253 revealed evidence of human trafficking. DCSO says they are still investigating the human trafficking allegation.

Scott was charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance, Controlled Substance Possession, Failure to Affix Tax Stamp, Felony Criminal Conspiracy, Drug Paraphernalia, Driving under Suspension, No Proof Insurance and a misdemeanor warrant. Ayala-Armienta Possession With Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance, Controlled Substance Possession, Failure to Affix Tax Stamp, Money while in Possession With the Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia, False Reporting and Felony Criminal Conspiracy.
