(Omaha, NE) -- After nearly 20 years, Dr. Adi Pour retires as the Douglas County Health Director this week and Omaha's mayor wasn't going to let her leave without a bit of fanfare.
On Tuesday, Omaha Mayor Jean Sothert gave Pour a key to the city and declared Tuesday as “Dr. Adi Pour Appreciation Day.” Back in March, Pour announced her plans to retire this summer during a Douglas County Board of Health meeting. “Because of my age, I think, I had a lot of thoughts about when is the right time. So that’s when I made the decision in June — the middle of the summer — it is the right time.”
In a March 17th statement, Stothert praised Pour for guiding the county through the COVID-19 pandemic, “the most significant public health crisis in our lifetime.”
On June 9th, the Board of Health confirmed Dr. Lindsay Huse as the new Douglas County health director. Huse comes to the Douglas County Health Department after serving as chief of public nursing at the Wyoming Department of Health. She is scheduled to begin her new role during the first week of July.
