(Dawson County, NE) -- A California man is behind bars in Nebraska after being caught with hundreds of pounds of marijuana.

The Nebraska State Patrol says around 9:45 Wednesday morning, a trooper pulled over an eastbound Ford Transit Van for driving on the shoulder of I-80 near Lexington in Dawson County. During the traffic stop, investigators say a K9 detected the odor of a controlled substance coming from inside the vehicle.

Troopers searched the vehicle and found 262 pounds of marijuana contained in large boxes in the cargo area of the van. The driver, 24 year old David Hernandez Fuentes, of Ceres, California, was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp.
