The Fire Department reports a man escaped through a window of the house in West Omaha just after midnight Tuesday, but was taken to the hospital for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation.
The fire was on North 145th Circle between West Dodge and Hamilton Street.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the place involving the attached pool house and deck, with fire quickly spreading into the house.
Investigators determined it was an accidental fire, caused by smoking materials.
A pet did die in the fire;
