"Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium" experts say "Claire" is due to give birth early in 2022.
The zoo is conducting monthly ultrasounds, but will start doing them on a weekly basis near the end of the year.
Dr. Laura Kleinschmidt, an associate veterinarian and certified zoologist, tells 6 News the weight of a elephant baby is about 260 pounds, with Claire gaining about 600 pounds to this point, about 15% of her body weight.
Caretakers do regular blood work and the monthly ultrasounds to make sure everything is still on track and going well.
