Douglas County Mask D-H-M Request Stopped at State Level

The State of Nebraska turns down the Douglas County Health Director's request for a temporary local mask mandate.

Health Director Lindsay Huse told County Commissioners earlier Tuesday that she had sent a request to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for a Directed Health Measure.

The temporary mandate would have required masking for anyone ages five and older in most indoor public places. Nebraska’s Chief Medical Officer said the request had been denied.

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert issued a statement saying she wasn’t aware of Dr. Huse’s request and would not support another mask mandate for the city.
