Nebraska Department of Transportation engineers say heavy rains early Tuesday resulted in significant damage on Nebraska Highway 1 just east of Murray in Cass County.
They say the viaduct is intact, but the road is closed to all traffic.
NDOT says contractors are already on the scene for repairs.
Detour routes are Nebraska Highway 66 and U.S. Highway 34.
