(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha Police identify a man killed in a fiery crash on I-480 in downtown Omaha on Friday.

Police say just before 12:30 Friday afternoon, officers were called to a personal injury crash in which a vehicle was on fire at I-480 West and approximately 20th St. OPD says the investigation showed that a 1988 Pontiac 6000 sedan had broke down in the #2 traffic lane. Investigators say a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup then hit and rear ended the Pontiac, whose gas tank ruptured with the sedan becoming fully engulfed.

The driver and sole occupant of the Pontiac, 60 year old Darryl Griffin of Omaha, was trapped and died at the scene. The driver of the Ford was uninjured. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
