(Lincoln, NE) -- A Nebraska State Senator resigns after being accused by a staffer of inappropriate conduct.

On Friday, Senator Mike Groene, of North Platte, resigned after being accused of taking pictures of one of his female staffers, cropping the pictures to zoom in on certain parts of her body and then emailing them to himself and others with explicit subject lines about the staffer. Nebraska Sunrise News broke the story after receiving an anonymous tip about the photos. According to a complaint filed on Friday, the staffer was given Groene's state-issued laptop to do some work-related projects for him when she found the pictures of herself.

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement Friday evening: “I spoke with Senator Mike Groene earlier this afternoon, and we both agreed it was best for him to resign.”
