This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Nebraska

(Omaha, NE) -- This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Nebraska.

The National Weather Service says they are encouraging everyone to take time this week to review and practice their severe weather plan for home or the office. They say if you don’t have a plan, this is a great time to consider developing one and sharing it with others. The Weather Service says preparing an emergency kit with basic supplies such as food, water, blankets and a flashlight can save time when reacting to an actual event.

A statewide Tornado drill will be held at 10:00 Wednesday morning as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week. Outdoor warning sirens will be tested, radio and TV stations will broadcast tests, and school kids will participate in tornado drills.
