(Omaha, NE) -- A 37 year old woman is killed by a suspected drunk driver while standing on a North Omaha street.
Omaha Police say just before 10:30 Thursday night, officers were called to the area of 26th and Lake for a crash. Police say their investigation found that a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by 21 year old Sarah Faya, exited the North Freeway at Lake at a high rate of speed. Investigators say Faya began to make a left turn onto Lake but lost control, causing the vehicle to spin out and eventually roll over.
OPD says the vehicle crossed over the sidewalk on the west side of the ramp where Ashley Dotson was standing. Police say Dotson was hit as the vehicle rolled. She was taken to Nebraska Medicine where she was pronounced dead.
Faya was arrested and charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide - DUI.
