(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha psychiatrist is accused of having relationships with his patients and now Nebraska's Attorney General is seeking disciplinary action.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health says the state is claiming that Omaha psychiatrist Dr. Gregory Wigington had relationships with two patients under his care. Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson says Dr. Wigington started dating a patient under his care a few months after an initial appointment in December 2017. The two eventually married in August 2018. Peterson says that during an interview with a department investigators, Dr. Wigington admitted that his actions were a breach of his ethical duties as a psychiatrist.
According to the Attorney General, Dr. Wigington then began seeing a different patient in June 2018. During an interview with an investigator, the new patient reportedly said that in December 2019 that she and Dr. Wigington exchanged sexually explicit text messages and engaged in sexual activity.
Peterson's office is seeking disciplinary action against Dr. Wigington that includes a monetary fine and the potential removal of his license to practice in Nebraska.
