(Omaha, NE) -- More than a thousand people are estimated to have joined a protest in Omaha after the U.S. Supreme Court decision Friday overturning Roe v. Wade. Several hundred protesters met up at Memorial Park in Omaha Friday afternoon, and as the number grew they made their way to Dodge Street.

The protest was generally peaceful as protesters lined the Dodge Street pedestrian bridge, and the sides of the busy road. At one point, protesters reportedly tried to form a line across Dodge Street to stop traffic, but police moved the protesters off the road and traffic resumed.

The American Civil Liberties Union says on its Facebook Page that: "Abortion remains legal in Nebraska thanks to the defeat of a trigger ban earlier this year. Advocates, including the ACLU of Nebraska, have promised continued action to defend Nebraskans’ reproductive rights during a potential special session later this year."
