(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha's new fire chief is officially sworn-in.

On Thursday, Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert swore Chief Kathy Bossman in as the leader of the Omaha Fire Department. Bossman is the first woman to serve as Omaha's Fire Chief. She started with the OFD in 1997 as a paramedic/firefighter. Over the years, she has served as a Captain, Battalion Chief and in 2017 was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief.

She replaces former Chief Dan Olsen, who had served in the role since 2016.
