(Lincoln, NE) -- Husker baseball and softball fans will now be able to buy a beer at Haymarket Park. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved alcohol sales during a meeting Friday, the vote was 9-2 in favor. The change goes into effect immediately.
The agreement reached with NEBCO calls for all revenue from alcohol sales will be reinvested back into the Haymarket Park stadium for improvements.
Interim Regents President Chris Kabourek says there have been no significant alcohol-related fan incidents at other Husker events at which alcohol has been permitted, including men’s and women’s basketball games at Pinnacle Bank Arena, during Volleyball Day in Nebraska, and during the Big Ten wrestling championships.
In a statement, the Regents said the NU system remains committed to investing in alcohol awareness programs for students.
