(Lincoln, NE) -- More than 220 traffic tickets were written last weekend as part of a Lincoln Police initiative.

The Lincoln Police Department had more law enforcement on the road last Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

The department says 40 tickets were written for improper registration, along with more than 20 DUI citations.

In total, they issued 223 citations.

LPD says it has a zero tolerance policy for drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Funding for the extra officers came from the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
